Cared for by the community

In 2025 the Panjabi Sports & Social Club adopted Meadowgate Park under the City of London’s Adopt-a-Park programme. Adopting a park means taking ongoing responsibility for it: keeping it tidy, reporting anything that needs the city’s attention, and treating it as a space the whole neighbourhood has a stake in. The Adopt-a-Park sign in the park names the club as its steward.

Park clean-up drives

Volunteers from the club, their families and neighbours walk the park together and collect litter and yard waste. Recent clean-ups:

• 3rd Park Clean-Up Drive, Saturday 24 October 2026
• 2nd Park Clean-Up Drive, Saturday 25 April 2026

What looking after the park involves

• Seasonal clean-ups. Volunteer teams walk the park and collect litter, with gloves, bags and safety vests supplied by the club.
• Reporting and upkeep. Damaged equipment, overflowing bins and safety concerns are flagged so they get fixed quickly.
• Family days. Clean-ups are followed by games, snacks and time together. Children and seniors are as welcome as anyone.
• Environmental education. The park is a place to talk about waste, recycling and why green space matters.
