Why the camp carries his name

Bhai Jaswant Singh Khalra

A bank official from Amritsar who became one of Punjab’s most determined human rights defenders. In the mid‑1990s he gathered and made public the records of thousands of people who had been picked up, never charged, and never seen again.

He was abducted in September 1995 and never came home. The club holds this camp each September in his memory — a day spent helping to save lives, in the name of a man who gave his own trying to protect them.

How you can help

The Panjabi Sports and Social Club has partnered with Canadian Blood Services to help make a difference for patients across Canada. Joining our Partners for Life team means every donation you make anywhere in Canada is counted towards the club’s total.

  1. Join our team on blood.ca

Use team ID PANJ0127964. This links your donations to the club.

  2. Book your appointment

Canadian Blood Services will confirm your slot and screen your eligibility.

  3. Tell us you’re coming

Our own sign-up form helps us plan refreshments and volunteers on the day.

  4. Bring someone with you

First-time donors are always welcome. Everyone is, member or not.

On the day

Bring photo ID

Government-issued ID or your Canadian Blood Services donor card.

Eat and drink first

A proper meal and plenty of water beforehand makes the whole thing easier.

Allow about an hour

The donation itself is short; screening and resting afterwards take the rest.

Say hello

Club volunteers will be at the door. Refreshments are on us.

Who can donate is decided by Canadian Blood Services, not by us.

Eligibility depends on your health, travel and medical history. Check the current criteria and book at blood.ca or call 1‑888‑2‑DONATE. If you cannot donate, you can still volunteer on the day.
